the blog is dead! face book and flickr have killed you. how lazy i am to manage more than that. come visit me there. see my status updates, check my pics.

we had a bbq, we built a fence, we got graffittied. same old. amber is running, turning on the stereo, babbling and digging in the dirt. cute as a button and now a star with the threebirdsphotography.com taking her pics. can't wait for summer.

just tying up loose ends today...some community projects all done! yay! getting a summer block party planned and making baby's lunch.

i'm trying to keep my glasses on my head while I do a bunch of stuff and its hard cuz baby busted them in half the other day. now they're taped together geek style. there's tape right on my lens and making it weird to look around. she loves to grab everything and drag it behind her while she walks around the house. we got new shoes and she can stomp up and down our sidewalk. can't wait for good weather to explore the parks! her belly is getting big big bigger and she loves to eat. we are all finally better from that damn flu thing we had. my busted rib is all healed up and the pain is a dull memory. work is settling down, the weather is good and it seems like, yes, there is a god and we can finally have a break from all the crap.

then again, i did scrape my car door and dent it on the concrete wall at the parking garage. thats not god's fault, its mine. me and another car were head to head at the garage and i tried to make a tighter turn. oops. its only been a few months and i still don't know how much car i have to work with. my poor banged up car. oh well.

i think i need to get some exercise back in my diet now that i am well cuz i feel sooo out of shape and my clothes are showing it. baby and i both have big bellies. bah. ok, off to bed. these early morning meetings tire me out.

hello web. long time no see.

i'm hiding out at home again today. yes, the laptop is nice on those days you need to stay home. I got sent down to the client's down in santa clara for a few days. while i was away, baby got some athsma meds at children's emerg and mwo got super sick too. oboy, when i got back, it got me too. so i've been sick for a week or so but the worst part is my busted ribs. as you might remember (many years ago, i got dogpiled at daycamp by those kids and disclocated part of my ribcage), my ribs are not quite right. and now when i do those sneezes and deep coughs, I swear that searing pain must be a fracture. I've been toughing it out but caved in on Sunday and went to the walk in clinic. They poo poo'd it there but I felt something pop today as i sneezed and oh man it hurts. i dropped off baby at daycare but hurt every time i turned right with the car...so i came back home. i'm happily munching down the yellow and blue tylenols cuz thats my only relief. yellows are happy daytime..blues are happy nighttime.

oh and of course the week i felt the crappiest is when I have to help put out the next issue of our neighbourhood paper. what a wreck i am. its done, it looks fine and i can try to sleep again. next week is our banner painting workshop and then i'm free of all those evil neighbourhood projects for a while!!! yahoo!

baby really is booting around now and loves walking all over the house. she can climb up on the couch, eat with her fork and spoon, and yell yell yell. her bangs are really growing out into a nice mullet.

the sunshine is sneaking back and its time to finish the yard. go go go.

oh its been a long time since my last post...or is that what you say at confession?

i'm still exhausted. a continual grab for sleep and a break in this hectic paced schedule. my crazy work projects are still on the go and another work weekend for me. in this past while, baby has learned to walk, use the spoon on her own, and said "car" when I pointed it out. we've also had two funerals for young people, zane at 25 and a newborn baby at just a few hours. how sad to see people in deep grieving but a wakeup to the rest of us to cherish those little moments. another friend found a tumor and needs a hysterectomy and possibly more treatment if it doesn't go well. its really been a loooong month or so getting back to work. i'm not feeling too stressed at the moment but i wasn't doing so well at about the 2nd week in. guess it all was getting to be a bit too much. now I've stepped back a bit and can sleep a bit more and see that there's a bigger picture where my problems don't seem so large.

the laptop from work has really been a godsend...or a torture device. i can work at home late after baby has gone to bed. my day ends early from work and then picks up again until midnight. they might even send me out of town for a project for a day and I might able to get some rest. or possibly even less. who knows. i'm just going with the flow right now.

i've got more names of people under my belt and i'm really pretty much back in the routine of things at work. i've been doing quite a bit of photography for this last project and I'm really enjoying it. its kinda fun to have to scope out the office for people who could do a little modelling for my project. nice break from sitting at my desk all day.

i made us go out to toysrus on the past weekend and get another carseat. if he doesn't start doing some of the driving and baby duties, i could possibly go insane. with me having stomach flu, baby throwing up all over the place and having to lug my heavy laptop bag...just too much. plus make dinner, lunch and snacks for baby all the time....phew!

ok off to bed now.

so yes. i'm back at work. how do you like it you ask? i'm exhausted. between trying to get amber to daycare on time, and pick her up so she's not the last one there...I'm also trying to squeeze out client designs and set up my desktop, computer, phones, etc. And i'm trying to remember 15 months worth of changes at the office, new faces and new everything.i swear there are 4 asian girls named teresa cheung. i kid you not. ok maybe. but even to me, all look same.

last night was my first late nighter as i finished designs on my laptop at 2:30am and then was woken up by baby at 5am. me tired. go back to bed baby. she's not napping much at daycare and is exhausted when she gets home. at least she gets a solid sleep at night mostly.

today was another snow day and i'm loving them just for the fact that he thinks i'm not trustworthy to drive in the snow and he drives home early with us in the morning and early back again in the evening...just like a real family! whoohoo! watch out for those crazy falling trees.

Its been another busy year in the WongWong household for 2006. Having a baby keeps us all on the brink of madness/happiness. Amber is flourishing at 15 months and is no longer the bald headed screaming machine of early spring. We were able to stay sane and get through the zombie sleep starved first 7 months before Amber started sleeping through the night. Barely. And Amber’s just growing and learning more all the time. Over the year she’s cut 9 teeth, learned to sleep through the night, mastered crawling, dabbled in standing/cruising and has a few sign language hand signals under her belt. She’s babbling a lot and only has a few real words with her made up ones. She’s made tons of baby friends from mommy classes and been out to the parks, dance class, library time and mother goose for playdates. Lilli even got a car so we could stay mobile for the winter. Its been 18 years since mom has driven so this is a big step. Amber’s allergies are getting better, no more cradlecap, just a little eczema and an egg allergy, although we were stumped by our recent 911 visit to Children’s Hospital for a major anaphalactic reaction. She’s doing great and is turning out to be quite the little cutie. At least we think so. She loves all her doting relatives and friends and is thankful for all their generous gifts! We’ve just started gradual entry for familycare where there are a few kids to play with and she’s learning to get used to the new routine. We think she’ll even learn some Chinese there some mom and dad can practice too. She’s just started waking up again in the night so she can practice her standing/cruising skills. Just in time for mom to go back to work.

Lilli is finally heading back to Blast Radius after 15 months off. We’ll see how different the office is after so long and a revolving door of new and old co-workers coming and going. She barely remembers how to use her mac but is a master of posting pictures to her Flickr account and checking craigslist.org for sale items. The year to date includes such accomplishments as gaining over 30 lbs, losing over 35 lbs, then gaining another 5 lbs, coping with insomnia, planning two block parties, creating a neighbourhood email listserve, publishing a summer edition of the neighbourhood newspaper, learning to drive (again), raising a baby, overseeing the garage renos and yard demolition, helping to paint street banners with the kids, handing out neighbourhood small grant funds, clearing out the house with garage sales, and hosting the family xmas parties. Phew. It’ll be a relief to get back to work.

Mike has been working hard at Radical on some Vivendi video game titles like Scarface, and the Hulk. He’s been able to commiserate with the other new dads on the team and compare how Amber’s doing with their little geniuses. He loves to come home and recuperate with a little baby time (and/or Counterstrike). She’s daddy’s little girl. Our garage/yard renos were a major pain in the neck since we started so late in the year trying to get contractors. Mike finally ended up doing most of the work with his brothers and its coming along great! We barely got a roof and some tarpaper up before the snows and rainstorms hit. It water tight until the spring when we’ll try to finish it off and have everyone over for a bbq bash. That kind of sums it up for us.

Hope the year has been treating you all well and we’d love to catch up with you all. Happy holidays and a great 2007.

what a long scary day. we spent the entire day at the hospital yesterday after amber had a major reaction to either her breakfast or the chickenpox vaccinations at the family doctor's office.

she swelled up so fast and so much that the paramedics were called to drive us over in the ambulance. it took 5 medics to try to hold her down and unsuccessfully get an IV into her. she's small but feisty. our epi pen also failed to work for us, damn them!

lucky the medics had their stuff together and knew what to do. the 'before shot' of the swelling on her lip and eyes are nowhere near as bad as it got when the guys arrived. she almost had a double chin of swollen neck area, ears, nose, lips, eyes. luckily it came down later in the afternoon and she was able to pass out and get some rest. we're on the 36 hour watch for any reoccurrence but crossing our fingers. we had a bit of another scary flare up this morning but gave her the dosage from the docs a bit earlier than scheduled and it eventually came down. sleep tight baby. i feel like I've been in Children's Emergency a few too many times.
